I wish I had her flow...

Busta Rhymes get out of her body!

better know that I don't and I won't ever stop cause
you know I gotta win everyday day, goooo
"
Karmin - Look at me Now
(Chris Brown, Busta Rhymes & Lil Wayne Cover)

She is crazy good! Here is more...
"I call it like I see it, and my glasses on

Rolling in the deep with Adele

Adele, Adele, Adele... this young woman definitely has something special. If you haven't already, listen to her new album 21 because she didn't disappoint!

Whoever the guy she talks about in her songs is, he must have hurt her badly. Damn him!

"The scars of your love remind me of us,
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all"
Adele - Rolling in the Deep (Music Video)

"But there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true
And the games you'd play, you would always win, always win"
Adele - Set Fire to the Rain

A track full of thoughts...

It's Thoughtful Thursday and here is an artist and a track that definitely makes me think. Lupe also just released the video for this song so let's check it out!
"Just listening to Pac aint gon make it stop
A rebel in your thoughts, aint gon make it halt
If you don’t become an actor you’ll never be a factor"

She Needs Me x Kendrick Lamar

I heard this song on the radio a few days ago and have been wondering who it is from since. I hate this feeling, especially when I like a song and have no clue who the artist is. Unfortunately this happens to me way too many times, I might need to invest in a fancier car stereo or I can predict many more "What song is that?" in my future... At least I was finally able to find out today that the song I heard is "She Needs Me" by Kendrick Lamar, a young rapper from Compton, CA. The beat is dope and I like how he paints the perfect woman in this track... yep Hip Hop can be respectful to women!

Kendrick Lamar is pretty talented and I definitely want to hear more from this guy...
"She looked him in the eye and said she needs me"
Kendrick Lamar ft. Javonte - She Needs Me

VIBE's "Greatest Rapper Alive (Under 30!)" list

Source: VIBE.com

VIBE voted Lil Wayne the greatest rapper alive in the under 30 category. Personally I would have chosen J. Cole but hey, that's just me... Cole actually made it at number 5 in the list without even an album out yet... (not bad!) he comes right behind Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lupe Fiasco.

Click below for the complete list
VIBE: The Big List

And here is some Drake to listen to...
"Too many rappers and not enough-
Well you can fill the blank in
They tryna be the best
Just tryna place in the rankin'
They can't"
Drake - Closer To My Dreams

The weekend is over... :(

The weekend has once again come and gone. It went by way too fast as usual; that's what happens when I stay out all night and sleep all day.

Here are a couple new tracks I was jammin' to these past two days.
"So tonight everything is on me"

Wiz Khalifa - No Sleep

"Excuse me, but I might drink a little bit more than I should tonight"

Pitbull ft. Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer - Give Me Everything (Tonight)

A Spoonful of Girl Power

"I'm repping for the girls who taking over the world"
Bey Bey is back with a new single that I haven't been able to get out of my head ever since I listened to it earlier. I'm not too crazy about it, actually I don't like it but some songs just need to grow on me so I am leaving it some time and who knows maybe I'll love the track after a couple more listens or maybe I'll hate it by then. I'm all for girl power but there is just way too much going on in the song... eh here it is!

Beyonce - Who Run The World (Girls)

It's Earth Day!

Celebrating our planet in music... of course!
"And I think to myself.... what a wonderful world"
Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World

Music needed!

I find myself thinking that sooo many times during the day lately. I need music... now!

Ok, I have a confession to make; I am a music addict and can't function without it. Maybe that's what I should update my "About me" section to read because I've been trying to come up with something witty and interesting enough to write on there without much success...

To get back to the subject of this post, let me find something to fulfill my need. Some J.Cole maybe? He's still an up and coming rapper and not too many people have heard about him yet but I'm already a huge fan so you will probably see more and read more... much more about this guy as the blog goes on but for now let's just enjoy the music. This below is the track that got him signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label.
"Don't even know the rules but yet y'all tryin' to play the game"

J. Cole - Lights Please

This song is a sure thing

I had the hardest time choosing a quote from this song, it has a few pretty romantic lines. Some pure R&B lovey dovey for our ears... yay! I read somewhere he wrote the song for an ex-girlfriend after he cheated on her hmm...

Anyway, the opening (and closing) line is a good one:
"Love me like a brother
Treat you like a friend
Respect you like a lover"
But I really really like this one too, and I'm sure you can guess why:
"You could be the quote
If I'm the lyric baby"
Listen below!

Can you handle an army of me?

I didn't know the French band Grisbi until one of their songs popped up while I was youtubing earlier today. I then found out that the song is actually a cover of Bjork's "Army Of Me" and what I like about this cover is how different it is from the original. No offense Bjork... but Grisbi did a complete 180 and their version is delivered in a very gentle way, nothing to do with the harsh lyrics, and the result is a pretty interesting and chill track.
"And if you complain once more
You'll meet an army of me..."
Don't know which one you prefer but I'm going with the softer version by Grisbi:

Grisbi - Army Of Me

Bjork - Army Of Me

Beauty in the breakdown

"so let go, jump in
oh well, whatcha waiting for
it's alright
'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"

This Frou Frou song has to be my favorite by the British duo; there is something very relaxing about both the melody and Imogen Heap's unique voice. So let's go and take a listen... what are we waiting for?

Let's get right to business...

...music business that is. What other way to inaugurate this blog than to do it in music? I heard this song today and this is the quote that stayed with me:

"You know what they say Kanye, slow motion better than no motion..."

Common Feat. Kanye West - The Food

Welcome and Enjoy!
